Topper Tournament: Saturday 11th September.

(Not to be confused with the Gunn Trophy Event which is on 18th September.)

Back by popular demand this is the chance for ALL members to demonstrate their racing skills in the ever-popular Topper Dinghies.

This will be held as a Knock-out competition, probably held in heats, to find the overall best Topper Sailor in the Club. It is free and open to all members, very young and very very old to participate. The racing will be informal and seriously just for fun. It should be good training for the Gunn Trophy team!

All members should bring a sense of humour, their sailing gear, and a willingness to muck in on the rescue boats. Please also bring a packed lunch and refreshments. Please arrive at the club at 10.00a.m. -- in order to catch a decent bit of tide.

Remember this is for Adults AND Juniors. The more the merrier!

 Stop Press:

 The day did not bode well. At 10.00a.m. we had zero wind and torrential rain. It was decided to postpone racing until 11.00 -- and it was worth waiting for. The sun came out and we had a decent Westerly breeze. Eleven competitors battled it out over the heats and eventually the Kitson-Jones's won the day with Cameron, Fraser and Cathy crossing the finishing line in that order. Special mention to Christopher Gunn for taking part in his first official race and beating one or two old timers! David Johnson kept us amused with his mouth organ and music on his compact cassette player which can only be described as historic.We think he had sobotaged the CD player......
