The Gunn Trophy Returns to Lochcarron!

Congratulations to all the sailors who took part in yesterday's challenge. Fifteen sailors competed for this. They were divided into teams of three, with an "A and B team" from Lochcarron and the Isle of Skye and a single team of three from Plockton.

Here are some of the fifteen boats just before the start of the first race. (Photo from www.lochcarron.tv .) Please also check out the photos that were taken from the water by Jenny by clicking on the link on the left.

As the photos show, the wind strengthened during the afternoon and this meant that the rescue boats had their work cut out for them. There was a broken mast and during one squall it seemed that 50% of the dinghies had capsized. However three keenly fought races were completed with Lochcarron A team coming out as clear winners overall.

The A team consisted of Ross Sproule, Peter Hickman and Dougal Murray. The B team, which also sailed extremely well, included Scott Kitson-Jones, Crisdean MacKenzie and Simon Parsons. (Thanks are due to Cameron Kitson- Jones who stood in at the last minute to sail for the Isle of Skye.)

We all enjoyed the burgers and fresh baking at the informal award ceremony ( thanks to Carol and Jenny). Plockton promised to host the event next year -- so we are planning to continue race and team racing practice over the rest of this Season!
