Record -- Eight Yachts compete!

Light(or sometimes non-existent) winds were the main challenge for the eight yachts that participated in our yacht race today. (Sunday 28t6h June).

(The crews enjoying a "debrief" Lochcarron Style)

We were pleased to welcome Eric and Teo who joined us from Broadford on their Trident Trimaran named Mistri. After a leisurely start it was decided to sail the race course anti-clockwise as the light wind filled in from the West. With one minute to go the wind dropped to a wisp, catching several boats out and leading to a significant congregation at the stern of committee boat Meridian.

Meanwhile Amatory stole a flanker by crossing the line in clear air on port before swiftly tacking onto Starboard and leaving the carnage in their wake. As the rest of the fleet sorted themselves out, some chose the north side of the loch while Amatory continued on her way on the sourthern edge. They were never to be beaten and although the rest of the fleet bunched up at the gybe mark down by Ardnaff, with a few tight slow motion spinnaker tussles, they led from start to finish.

( Pointer ghosting to second place on her very first race!)

On corrected time the final results were: First Amatory, 2nd Pointer, 3rd Scamander, 4th Mhojo, 5th Ella, 6th Sebrijo, 7th Mistry, 8th Playtime.

(The crew of Amatory hold their trophy aloft.)

Many thanks to all who made such a fun day possible. Looking forward to meeting up for our next race on August 16th.
